Prof. Naveen Kumar Reddy Bogireddy /Associate Researcher “C”

Institute of Physical Sciences, National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM)

Prof. Naveen Kumar Reddy Bogireddy has developed a strong research line focused on the design of multifunctional materials for the detection and removal of contaminants, with over 10 years of experience. His work has direct applications in water purification, environmental remediation, and the development of high-precision sensors. His academic trajectory includes research stays and collaborations at internationally recognized institutions such as Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU, India), Penn State University (USA), and currently at the Institute of Physical Sciences at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), where he serves as Associate Researcher “C” (PRIDE “B”). His research integrates experimental and theoretical approaches for the valorization of organic waste in the synthesis of advanced, sustainable, and low-cost nanomaterials. Among his main academic indicators are 43 publications in indexed journals, of which 34 are as first and/or corresponding author. Of these, 31 are ranked Q1 (JCR), published in leading journals such as npj Clean Water (impact factor: 11.4), Chemical Engineering Journal (IF: 13.2), Journal of Hazardous Materials (IF: 11.3), Journal of Colloid and Interface Science (IF: 9.7), and Journal of Environmental Management (IF: 8.4), among others. His work has received more than 1,500 citations, with an h-index of 20, and he maintains active collaborations with both national and international researchers. Prof. Bogireddy also serves as a guest editor and editorial board member for various journals and is an active reviewer for high-impact scientific journals published by Elsevier, ACS, Wiley, Nature, RSC, and IOP, contributing significantly to the evaluation and advancement of knowledge in his field. He has supervised PhD, master’s and undergraduate thesis, and four technical degree theses. Currently, he supervises three PhD students, two master’s students, and two undergraduate students. Additionally, he has taught 17 undergraduate and graduate courses. He is the principal investigator of two active projects (one PAPIIT and one industrial) and collaborates on two additional projects, demonstrating strong scientific leadership and project management capabilities. Prof. Bogireddy has shown a strong commitment to science outreach, participation, and academic engagement. He has organized more than 100 outreach activities and has coordinated the Student Chapter of the Mexican Materials Society at the state level on two occasions (2024 and 2025). He has also collaborated with the Adopte un Talento (PAUTA) program in partnership with Sathya Sai School, promoting scientific interest among children and adolescents through critical thinking and inquiry-based learning. Additionally, he has participated as a reviewer of basic education projects at Colegio Cuernavaca and has contributed to thematic working groups of CCyTEM, particularly in the axis of strategic collaboration between government and academia to address development challenges in Morelos and Sonora. He also organized an international symposium (33rd IMRC, Symposium B4) focused on sustainability. Prof. Bogireddy has participated in more than 11 activities aimed at strengthening the Institute, including serving as coordinator of colloquia (for two years) and interinstitutional seminars, coordinator of collaboration agreements (CIQ–ICF and VIT–ICF), and liaison coordinator, as well as coordinator of ICF faculty participation in the UNAM Graduate Program in Physical Sciences (PCF), among others. Based on these achievements and contributions to research, Prof. Bogireddy has been recognized with the Best Researcher Award at an international conference (2023) and has been appointed Level II of the National System of Researchers (SNII) for the period 2026–2030.
