Dr. Wong Weng Pin /Research Assistant

Sunway University, Malaysia

Dr. Wong Weng Pin (AMIChemE) holds a Master’s Degree in Chemical Engineering from Xiamen University Malaysia, and a PhD in Sustainability Science and Technology at Sunway University under the FRGS scheme, where he is currently serving as a Research Assistant at the university. His research focuses on chemical and materials engineering, with core interests in the synthesis and application of thermoelectric materials, carbon nanomaterials, phase change materials, and MXene-based materials, as well as energy-related technologies such as upcycling of waste materials into energy storage materials and optimization of solar thermal utilization systems. He has achieved remarkable academic outcomes, publishing numerous high-quality papers in international journals including Energies, Scientific Reports, and Journal of Energy Storage, holding one granted Malaysian patent as a co-inventor and one pending patent for a thermoelectric composite material. He has been honored with the Young Scientist Award at the 3rd International Conference on Environmental Sustainability and Planetary Health in 2022, along with multiple academic scholarships. Actively engaged in academic exchange and services, he has served as a committee member for the EMSEE 2022, 2024, and 2026 international conferences, possessing extensive hands-on experience in laboratory instrument operation and research project implementation, with solid expertise in microwave-assisted synthesis, material characterization, and techno-economic analysis, making positive contributions to the innovative development of sustainable energy and materials fields.
